Mission
The Emerging Markets Investors Alliance enables institutional emerging market investors to support good governance, promote sustainable development, and improve investment performance in the governments and companies in which they invest.
Background
In 2010, the groundwork for the Alliance was laid through the organization of educational events for investors on emerging market governance issues. The Alliance was formally incorporated in 2015 and now holds educational events and publishes research for investors on a broad range of governance and sustainability topics. The Alliance also empowers investors to become effective advocates for good governance and sustainability.
Only a few international institutions have the power to influence public and private sector governance and sustainability in emerging markets. These include international financial institutions, select non-governmental organizations, and other governments. The Alliance empowers investors to stand alongside these institutions as leading advocates for good governance and sustainability.

Senior Advisors are recognized leaders with distinguished track records who have spent at least a decade as a formal team, division, or firm head at an industry-leading emerging markets focused institution. Senior Advisors take on a portfolio that tangibly advances EMIA's mission. The screening process for Senior Advisors is rigorous. Outside nominations and self-nominations are not accepted.
